DeWayne Holmdahl has been a resident of Santa Barbara County since 1944. During the period from 1963 to 1980, he was a Director of the Santa Barbara County Farm Bureau and a State Director of the California Farm Bureau Federation. As a Director of the Santa Barbara County Fair, he promoted the first wine judging event in 2002 which attracted 47 local wineries and 200 varieties of local wines and has doubled since then. Holmdahl, as a Santa Barbara County Supervisor was also instrumental in helping to promote the "wine and veggies" event in Washington DC kicking off California Tourist Month in 1985. As a former Lompoc City Councilman, he worked with the wineries and the vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills Appellation which is just east of the City of Lompoc as well as all the other Santa Barbara County wineries. 

Just recently, he was a wine judge in the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and has been a  judge in 2007 and 2008 as well. Also, he was a wine judge at the Santa Barbara County Competition in April 2006, 2007 and 2008. Along with his background and support of the wine industry, Holmdahl brings to his listeners valuable and interesting information on WINE-from the
